Wehi Hula

Anthony Mann

Our Keiki will have a performance soon so they needed a few hair adornments. It’s always my happiness making something for my dancers. These hair creations come from my naau. It’s my love and admiration for these keiki, for their being and for their bright future ahead. Our Hula essence is sharing and imparting mana in all things we do such as it is with these hair pieces. Not only are these creations cute but they each have a part of my mana which I have imparted though my breath, though my hands and through my thoughts. I’ve learned that my work is like a prayer. My hope and wish for them is to ku i luna (stand) and imua (Go forward). In hula everything is created from top to bottom. Everything is done carefully and with a lot of care and respect. One day when they grow older and they can understand and appreciate this purity of love expressed to them, they too will be able to repeat the process and know how to be kind and loving young individuals.
